This paper presents a deep-magnetic-field generator for thermotherapy, which has several advantages over traditional hard-copper coils. First, the new device is flexible and can therefore be used to treat different zones of the body. The device enables electromagnetic cauterization in thermotherapy of tumors deep within the body. Another advantage is that the flexible coil produces a magnetic field that penetrates deeper into the body compared with traditional helical hard-copper coils of the same diameter. For a treatment depth of 10 cm, we compare the results for in vitro electromagnetic-induction ablation experiments on porcine liver tissue done: 1) with a flexible laminated copper coil and 2) with a hard-copper coil. The results of the experiments show that the temperature increases 3.9 times better for the flexible coil than the traditional hard-copper coil.
