In this work, the efficiency of three ionic liquids: 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium thiocyanate, and 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methylphosphonate to extract n-alcohols from an aliphatic compound was studied. Liquid–liquid equilibria (LLE) measurements of ternary mixtures containing 1-propanol, 1-butanol, or 1-pentanol with n-heptane and these ILs were carried out at 298.15 K in order to check the ability of these ILs to act as extractive solvents. Experimental data were successfully represented using the NRTL and UNIQUAC correlations.
