SummaryA single injection of cadmium chloride (0.03 mmole/kg) to male Wistar rats has been shown to be cancerogenic both locally, by production of pleomorphic sarcomas at the subcutaneous site of injection, and systemically by production of interstitial cell tumors of testis. The development of both types of cadmium-induced tumors is inhibited by subcutaneous administration of zinc acetate (3.0 mmole/kg).
