Abstract

The estimation of accuracy and uncertainty of (personal) UV dosemeter readings requires calculation of the reading induced by irradiation with light in the UV region. As most of the currently available systems exhibit a non-linear response, the formal description of the reading is made by a function of wavelength and spectral radiant exposure. The efficiency of the detector becomes a matrix in this case which was experimentally determined for polysulphone film, one of the most used UV dosemeters. It turned out that this description of readings in polysulphone film is in good agreement with experimental data for solar-like spectra as well as for narrow UV spectra.
