An excised leaflet test was developed to assess Myzus persicae (Sulzer) resistance of Solanum germplasm. Correlations of excised leaflet tests with field evaluations were significant at the 1% level. Genotype-environment interaction was low in field evaluations. Preliminary selection of resistant clones by the excised leaflet test followed by final selection after a replicated field evaluation is suggested.
