A new class of hypergolic propellants developed by researchers at the Naval Air Warfare Center, China Lake, California, has been examined. These propellants have the properties of being non-toxic and having ideal performance close to that of the traditional toxic hypergolic propellants. To facilitate fnrther development of these propellants and the design of rocket engines utilizing these propellants, the ignition delay properties were examined. Nomenclature Isr - Specific Impulse C*‘- Characteristic Velocity z - Residence Time ps - Gas Density Vc - Chamber Volume m - Mass Flow Ru - Universal Gas Constant Tc - Chamber Temperature M - Molecular Weight y - Gas Thermal Conductivity g - Gravitional Acceleration Cr - Thrust Coefficient
