Abstract The concept of a w-function (10) for analyzing stochastic networks is combined with the definition of a generating function (4) to produce the w-generating function. The w-generating function is used to obtain information on conditional network probabilities and times, counts on elements in a network, renewal times to elements of a network and correlations between elements of a network.
