Moss flora of Gunib area in Dagestan, the Eastern Caucasus

Abstract

Annotated list of 215 moss species of small local mountain area in Dagestan Republic (East Caucasus) is presented.It includes many rare and interesting xerophytic species, e.g.Indusiella thianschanica, Jaffueloibryum latifolium, Crossidium squamiferum, Tortula atrovirens, Molendoa schliephakei.Among others, Anacamptodon splachnoides, Seligeria patula and Tortella tortuosa var.fleischeri are new to Russia, Philonotis falcata and Bryum sibiricum are new to Europe.A short discussion on environments and species characteristic for each type of habitat is provided.
