Abstract

Sprengel's deformity may be associated with absent or hypoplastic periscapular musculature, abnormalities in the cervicothoracic vertebrae or thoracic rib cage, the presence of an omovertebral bone, and limited shoulder abduction. The cases reported document multidirectional shoulder instability associated with Sprengel's deformity. Inferior glenohumeral subluxation may account for near-normal abduction in the child with congenital elevation of the scapula.
