Abstract

The extent of colour change associated with the display, under museum conditions, of Asian textiles over a three-month period was quantitatively monitored using a portable tristimulus colour analyzer. The results for most dyes loosely agree with previous studies based on accelerated aging; however, significant individual exceptions were found, confirming that not only the identity but also the history of the dyed textile is an important determinant of fading.
