Abstract

The dual-earner family is becoming the norm in US society. This study examined the association of variables such as adaptive coping behaviors, job flexibility, and social support with optimum health in dual-earner family members. Social support was found to be positively correlated with both physical and emotional health, and job flexibility was positively correlated with emotional health. Primary care providers can influence the health of dual-earner family members by counseling them on ways to manage their stressful lifestyle.
