Abstract

Short-course radiotherapy was performed on 271 patients with carcinoma of the lung with regional metastases. A one-year survival rate of 38% was obtained. Local control was achieved in 60% of cases and pulmonary symptoms were relieved to some degree in 78%. There were four instances of radiation myelitis among the early cases, but with changes in technique, no further cases were seen.
