Abstract

The field experiment described in this paper is an attempt to investigate the seasonal patterns of growth in bryophytes characteristic of species-rich calcareous grassland. A technique was devised to allow simultaneous measurements of seasonal changes in dry weight and shoot extension in species of contrasting growth form and spatial distribution within the turf environment
