Patient-reported symptoms and the Harvey-Bradshaw index were poor predictors of mucosal inflammation in CD. Psychological comorbidity was associated with gastrointestinal symptom-reporting. A shift in the focus of IBD management toward one addressing both psychological and physical well-being is required.
