Abstract

Examination of thirty-two Cretaceous assemblages from France and Netherlands reveals 1) the types of coccoliths and associated nannofossils in rocks representing each geologic stage from the Neocomian to the Campanian, 2) the many morphologic features possessed by these microfossils, and 3) the stratigraphic distribution of the various genera and species. The assemblages contain sixty-nine distinctive forms, of which forty-four are reported as new. The new taxa are described; all forms are illustrated and recorded stratigraphically. Generic names proposed here are Clinorhabdus, Eprolithus, Rucinolithus, Radiolithus and Tranolithus.
