Larvae of Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders) developed on diets containing Calco Oil Red N-1700® dye and produced moths that were visibly dyed throughout their lives. At concentrations of 0.015-0.00% dye (wt/v) in the diet, there were no effects on the rate of development or adult longevity, fecundity, or mating.
