1,3-Dimethoxy-2-methoxycarbonyl-l0-methylacridone, obtained by total synthesis, is not identical with the product from ozonolysis, methylation, oxidation, and esterification of acronycine. The degradation product is therefore 1,3-dimethoxy- 4-methoxycarbonyl-10-methylacridone, and acronycine has structure (1), not (11).
