Abstract

The genus Sciuro-hypnum was segregated from Brachythecium by Previously, the species of the genus were placed in Brachythecium in two sections: sect. Reflexa and sect. Plumosa Species of Sciuro-hypnum differ from species of Brachythecium in the mostly small size of plants, almost always autoicous sex-ual condition (except S. latifolium, S. flotowianum), and rough seta. Among species of Brachythecium, the combination of autoicous sexual condition with rough seta is very rare in Russia and is known only in B. rutabulum and in some populations of B. campestre.
