α-Amino acid esters can be added to a carbonyl ligand of [CpFe(CO) 3 ] + CF 3 SO 3 - to give the carbamoyl complexes Cp(OC) 2 Fe-C(O)NHCHRCO 2 R′ (R = H, Me, CHMe 2 , CH 2 Ph; R′ = Et, Me). This type of reaction may be useful for the marking of peptides at the amino end. The crystal structure of Cp(OC) 2 Fe-C(O)NHCH 2 CO 2 Et was determined by X-ray diffraction.
