The decrease in myocardial beta-adrenergic receptors and radiolabeled NE analog uptake found in different cardiomyopathies using neuroimaging techniques may be related to a functional mechanism of NE-induced downregulation of both beta-adrenergic receptor and uptake-1 carrier sites.
