Detection of Helicobacter pylori urease antigen in saliva in patients with different gastric H. pylori status

Abstract

This study demonstrated a low detection rate of H. pylori antigens in saliva compared with the presence of this bacterium in gastric mucosa, suggesting that saliva cannot be used as a suitable sample for the diagnosis of H. pylori in our study population.
