An optoelectronic device based on a new hybrid material, which is capable of mimicking synaptic plasticity, is developed. The response of the system is consistent with basic neurophysiological models and its fundamental parameters correspond with the values obtained for biological systems. The mechanism responsible for the observed synaptic behavior is proposed and verified in a numerical experiment.
