Abstract

A three-round Delphi survey was conducted with a national panel of 63 elder mistreatment experts to inductively develop a taxonomy of elder mistreatment and definitions of the categorical concepts. Through this collaborative process, researchers, clinicians, educators, and policy-makers in the field came to agreement on the essential components of a five-level taxonomy and 11 definitions. Research, practice, and policy implications of this agreement are discussed.
