Abstract

The case of a patient with metastatic, mixed, follicular and papillary carcinoma of the thyroid gland in association with stromal amyloid is presented. The amyloid found was most prominent in the metastatic lesion involving the cervical lymph nodes and had characteristic staining qualities. No intracellular amyloid was found nor were there any areas of solid medullary carcinoma within the tumor. The origin of the amyloid formed in this case is uncertain.
