Abstract

There has been describcd an improved Bunsen ice calorimeter that has been constructed for meas urements of enthalpy at high t emperatures by the "drop" method. The calibration factor of the ice calorimeter has been determined electrically to be 270.37 0.06 international jou lcs per gram of mercury, equivalent to 64.631 0.014 calories pcr gram of mercury where 1 calori e = 4.1833 international joule. Us ing this calibration factor, it is calculated that thc dcns ity of ice at 0 C and 1 atmosphere press ure is 0.91671 0.00005 gram per milliliter .
