1. The effect of salinity on the growth and survival of postlarvae of white, Penaeus setiferus, and grooved shrimp, P. aztecus or P. duorarum, has been studied in the laboratory. 2. Growth rate did not differ significantly among shrimp held at 2, 5, 10, 25, or 40%0. 3. Survival was generally excellent at all salinity levels tested, including 40%0. 4. The results suggest that salinity per se does not limit growth of young shrimp.
