Abstract

Marmoset monkeys developed fibromas or well-differentiated fibrosarcomas 7–30 days after inoculation with simian sarcoma virus type 1 (Lagothrix), C-type virus particles were demonstrated in the tumors and cell cultures derived from the tumors. The morphologic appearance of the tumors, the clinical course, and the viral expression in this system were compared to the tumors induced in marmosets by feline sarcoma and Rous sarcoma viruses.
