A facile impregnation method has been successfully applied for synthesis of a cubical Co<sub>3</sub>O<sub>4</sub> supported Au nanocomposites, which leads to the excellent catalytic activity for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol with a high turn over frequency of 9.83 min<sup>−1</sup>.
