Isolates of Verticillium lecanii (V. hemileiae) were readily obtained from coffee rust lesions in the laboratory, at high relative humidity, but only rarely from the field. V leptobactrum was also isolated from coffee rust lesions in the laboratory, which constitutes the first rport of this species as a hyperparasite of Hemileia vastatrix. Both species showed quite similar hyperparasitic and antibiotic action in laboratory studies. Two other isolates of V. lecanii of insect origin, were also able to parasitize H. vastatrix (...)
