A method is presented for the determination of the complete load-deflection behavior of reinforced concrete two-way slabs restrained at the boundaries and subjected to uniformly distributed loading. The analysis is carried out in two stages. In the first stage the load-deflection behavior up to Johansen's load is established. In the second stage, taking into account the effect of membrane action, the load-deflection relationship is determined for loads beyond Johansen's load. The computed ultimate loads and the corresponding deflections were compared with the experimental results of 67 slabs available in the literature and a satisfactory agreement noted.
