Abstract

An investigation of the different steps in the method of Weil-Malherbe & Bone (1949), as modified by The main modifications involved are the use of (i) a higher concentration of sulphuric acid during the formation of pentabromoacetone, and (ii) a thiourea-borax-sodium sulphide solution in place of 2 % sodium sulphide. METHOD Reagents Sulphuric acid. 33N-H2SO4 (A.R.).
