Abstract

Abstract A simple turbidimetric method for determination of serum mucoprotein (seromucoid), applicable to routine use in the clinical laboratory, is described. It measures the entire mucoprotein complex, rather than its constituents. The mean level in normal women was 77.1 ± 14 mg. per cent and in men 81.2 ± 18 mg. per cent. Excellent agreement was obtained with the tyrosine method in the abnormal as well as in the normal range of values.
