CT-guided percutaneous drainage offers many advantages over surgery: it is less invasive, can be repeated and requires no anesthesia; there are no surgery-related risks and lower morbidity and mortality rates. Moreover, subsequent hospitalization is shorter and costs are consequently reduced. We conclude that CT-guided percutaneous drainage is the method of choice in the treatment of postoperative abdominal fluid collections.
