Complementary lethal factors in two North American populations of the yellow monkey flower

Abstract

A genetic system producing postzygotic reproductive isolation between two North American populations of Mimulus guttatus is described. The reaction is due to a single factor in each population that combines to produce a synthelic lethal in the hybrids. Both populations are polymorphic for the factors.
