A new instrument for measurement of regional muscle blood flow based on the laser Doppler principle is described. The method has been used to determine blood flow in skeletal muscle of pigs after bullet wounding. This new method constitutes a promising technique for non-invasive blood flow measurements in superficial layers of skin and muscle.
