Four methods of measuring the prevalence of alcoholism in Ontario resulted in similar estimates: from the distribution of consumption of alcoholic beverages, 118,800 alcoholics; from alcoholism deaths, 122,200; from liver cirrhosis deaths, 120,000; and from suicide, 136,800.
