Thirty nine varieties of gladiolus were used to study the genotypic and phenotypic variability for 13 characters by estimating different parameters. The range, coefficient of variation, phenotypic and genotypic coefficients of variation, heritability in broad sense and genetic advance as percentage of mean were all high for three characters namely, weight of cormels produced per corm, number of cormels produced per corm and weight of corm produced. Thus, selection based on these characters will be very effective for the improvement of the crop.
