Impulsive Loading Theorems for Rigid-Plastic Continua

Abstract

Continua composed of a rigid-plastic strain rate insensitive material subjected to impulsive loading are considered. Two theorems bounding the response time and the displacement at any surface point, respectively, are presented. Illustrative examples are given, and the accuracy and significance of the bounds are examined.
