The behavior of amounts of silver deposited in less than a monolayer on an inert electrode has been determined in the presence of several ions. Relatively large amounts of copper(II), palladium(II), and platinum(IV) were without effect, but changes in the concentration of hydrogen ion produced a significant effect. The importance of electrode history was demonstrated in an interlaboratory comparison, and means of minimizing the resulting differences were examined.
