Studies on loss assessement and chemical control of molya disease of wheat, caused by Heterodera avenae, were conducted at several infested sites during 1976–82. Losses upto 47.2 per cent for wheat variety, Kalyan Sona, in the sandy soils of Rajasthan (India) were comparable to the loss estimates in Australia and were higher than those reported from Canada and European countries. Of the different nematicides (aldicarb, carbofuran. DBCP, phorate, mephosfolan, isofenphos and terbufos) tested under field conditions, of all except phorate, were effective in reducing
