By using a 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (MHBA) crystal as frequency doubler at room temperature, an efficient blue light output for near IR automatic tunable picosecond parametric laser is obtained, and blue-violet light output by frequency doubling of GaAlAs laser diode is also realized. A 404.5 nm light, with output power of 3 μW is generated from the 1 W input power of a 809 nm GaAlAs laser diode on a MHBA crystal device which is 3 mm thick at the phase matching angles of θ = 90°, φ = 15°.
