Abstract

A three-phase self-commutated utility-interactive photovoltaic (PV) inverter system and its associated control system are described. A simplified computer model of this system is established and presented in block-diagram form. This model is suitable for use in transient stability programs. The accuracy of the simplified model is verified by comparing the response calculated therefrom with that of a highly detailed PV system model in which the inverter is represented in valve-by-valve detail. The results indicate that the simplified PV system model is reasonably accurate when used to predict the PV response following, for example, step changes in solar insolation, step changes in the array voltage reference, step changes in the reactive power reference, and step changes in the AC voltage magnitude.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
