Abstract

Leaflet resection and chordal reconstruction are effective techniques for repair of degenerative posterior mitral leaflet prolapse. Both techniques result in a low incidence of recurrent mitral regurgitation. Chordal reconstruction accommodates larger annuloplasty rings and is associated with lower transmitral gradients.
