The photon-absorption technique was used for evaluation of the bone-mineral status in thirty-one patients with primary osteoarthrosis of the hip. Two hundred and forty-eight subjects without symptomatic osteoarthrosis or osteoporosis were also measured for normal control values. In all subjects weight and height were also measured. Patients with primary osteoarthrosis of the hip had a significantly higher bone-mineral content and the women patients were taller than the control group matched for age and sex.
