The aqueous and alcoholic extracts of H, monniera whole plant did not provide complete protection to the rats from chemical or maximum electric shock induced seizures but reduced their severity. The extracts neither produced sedation and muscle incoordination nor have an antidepressant effect. However, they potentiated the barbiturate-induced hypnosis. The extracts significantly increased the penthylenetetrazike-induced seizure latency.
