In this paper, the current status of power electronic circuit simulation is reviewed and challenges in simulating power converter circuits and systems are identified A general-purpose computer simulation program PSIM, specifically designed for power electronic circuit simulation, is introduced. The features of PSIM and the approaches to achieve an effective simulation environment are described. Examples are provided for illustration.
