Survival of granular formulations of microbial consortium in various substrates

Azotobacter chroococcum and Bacillus megaterium were used as inoculants having nitrogen fixing and phosphate solubilizing capacities, while Pseudomonas fluorescens as a plant growth promoter. Their survivability individually, as well as in consortium in eight substrate based granular formulations were studied. Maximum survival of individual as well as consortium microbes was observed in Soybean, followed by Soybean + Semolina and Rice inoculant formulations. Minimum survival of population was observed in Ragi + Semolina inoculant formulation. Survivability of B. megaterium population was highest.
