Abstract

In a recent research study (Higbee & Thomas, 2000) we determined that there is not only disagreement between students and faculty regarding whether some behaviors constitute academic dishonesty, but also considerable difference of opinion within each group. For each of the 25 items provided in Academic Honesty Questionnaire, faculty members and students at the University of Georgia were asked to respond Y for yes, is cheating, N for no, is not cheating, or D for it depends upon the circumstances. Space was provided to articulate situations that might determine whether or not the behavior would be academically dishonest.
