High power high brightness industrial fiber laser technology

Abstract

Fiber lasers offer a significant increase in performance flexibility from a single technology not yet realized by traditional sources. As fiber lasers provide improved beam quality, new opportunities are emerging for high power, high brightness laser sources. A review of current state-of-the-art for fiber laser technology and specifications of a new high power high brightness industrial fiber laser will be discussed. Of particular interest is the enhanced beam characteristics and delivery options offered by the single fiber high power fiber laser. The availability of low beam parameter product values, < 0.5 mm.mrad at >1kW power levels, places Yb fiber lasers in a world leading position within the industrial marketplace.
