The antifertility effects of 32 plants indigenous to India during early and late pregnancy were studied in female rats. The plant materials were separately extracted by 50% ethanol 90% ethanol distilled water and petroleum ether and acetone. Plant materials with a resorptive activity greater than 50% were Abrus precatorius Linn. In petroleum ether (60%) Embelia ribes Burm. in 50% ethanol (66.6%) Moringa pterygospermnm in 50% ethanol (60%) Terminalia arjuna W. & A. in 50% ethanol (60%) and Cichorium intybus L. in 50% ethanol (84%).
